Let’s be brutally honest about the modern job hunt: if you are applying to a LinkedIn listing that already has over 100 applicants, you are probably wasting your time. Recruiters are overwhelmed, and they often only look at the first batch of resumes that hit their inbox. To get an interview, you need to be early.

LinkedIn’s built-in filters only allow you to sort by the “Past 24 hours.” In a competitive market, a 24-hour-old listing is already stale. But there is a back-door way to bypass the UI and filter by the exact last hour.

Step 1: The AI search bypass

Recently, LinkedIn started rolling out an “AI-powered” job search experience. While helpful for broad queries, this new UI fundamentally changes how the website processes data and blocks traditional URL parameter hacks. Before you do anything, make sure you toggle off the AI search or revert your view back to the Classic Job Search.

Step 2: The URL seconds hack

Once you are in the classic view, select the “Past 24 hours” filter. Now, take a look at the URL in your browser. You will see a long string of text that includes f_TPR=r86400.

That number isn’t random. It represents exactly 86,400 seconds—which is 24 hours. Because the classic URL is reading raw seconds, you can manually type in whatever timeframe you want.

  • To see jobs posted in the last 1 hour, change it to r3600.
  • To see jobs posted in the last 6 hours, change it to r21600.
  • To see jobs posted in the last 12 hours, change it to r43200.

Hit Enter, and the page will refresh to show you brand new listings with zero competition. Now you can be the very first person to get rejected (kidding… sort of).

🔥 The pro-tip: Skip the pile entirely

Being early is great, but getting a direct referral is better. Once you find a fresh job listing using the 1-hour hack, do not just click “Easy Apply.” Scroll down to the “Meet the hiring team” section. If the job poster’s profile is linked, send them a direct connection request with a short, polite note stating that you just saw their brand new posting and have submitted your application. This simple step guarantees human eyes on your name, bypassing the automated tracking systems entirely.
